Treat Baby Eczema at Home

Any overly warm weather or a warm atmosphere irritates baby’s skin with eczama. Be sure to keep baby at a comfortable temperature and don’t overdress. A baby with eczema tends to try and scratch themselves for relief. Keep the nails clipped low and filed smooth or put on mittens to protect the skin (my daughter pulled her mitten off and scratched). Keep an eye on them as far as that.

Step 2

If unfortunately, the baby becomes itchy and irritated, fill a very clean tub full of warm water. Add two cups of raw oatmeal to the water. Let the water get cloudy or help it along by whirling it around. The water will become cloudy and the oatmeal will become soft and mushy. This is the perfect time to dip baby in.

Step 3

Bathe the baby in the bath and rub some of the soft oatmeal on the patchy spots. Do not use any soap or anything with fragrance on the baby’s skin or when washing their clothes. Fragrance can cause more irritation of eczema. Pat the baby with the towel and apply the Baby Aveeno Oatmeal Cream. Once more, keep the clothes loose and comfortable.

Continue with this regimen at least once per day to twice per day.  Do not overdry the skin either as this may irritate the condition.  After continued use, your baby’s skin will be even smoother than when she was born (as if their skin can get any smoother). Either way, your baby will be happy and no more itching without steriods.
